Haleʻiwa Store Lots Job Fair presents new opportunities for North Shore residents

Honolulu, HI (May 10, 2016) - Haleʻiwa Store Lots continues to support substantial efforts to provide employment opportunities to the thriving community around them. As an added effort towards creating new jobs in the Haleʻiwa area, Haleʻiwa Store Lots is excited to announce that they will be hosting a Job Fair this Sunday, May 15 from 9–11a.m. The Job Fair will feature many of Haleʻiwa Store Lots’ merchants, including Matsumoto Shave Ice, Uncle Bo’s Pupu Bar & Grill, Maui Divers Jewelry and many more. With a diverse group of merchants located in this centralized and flourishing community hub, applicants are encouraged to come out and meet with potential future employers in person if they are looking to obtain employment.

As part of Kamehameha Schools’ 2008 North Shore Master Plan, Haleʻiwas Store Lots allows for responsible economic growth in the region. Since its opening date on May 1, 2015- Haleʻiwa Store Lots has increased job opportunities in the same region by 177 percent. The redevelopment has also created a new home for twenty locally operated businesses. Since the closure of the Waialua Sugar Company nearly two decades ago, retail and hospitality sector account for approximately 30 percent of jobs on the North Shore of Oʻahu identified in the 2013 North Shore Economic Vitality Plan.

“When Haleʻiwa Store Lots’ merchants are able to grow, it creates multiple layers of social, economic opportunities for the surrounding community,” said Ryan Ng, Kamehameha Schools’ Senior Asset Manager. “We made a commitment to the community to responsibly grow the economics of the town while maintaining Haleʻiwa’s unique charm.“

Merchants such as Uncle Bo’s Pupu Bar & Grill, Maui Divers Jewelry, Teddy’s Bigger Burgers, Rajanee Thai Restaurant, and many more will be participating in the Job Fair. Applicants in attendance will have the opportunity to meet with employers and submit applications, and resumes. Positions include part-time, full-time, and seasonal positions.
